Komodo in Venice - a summer-themed family maths puzzle
Here's a fun maths puzzle perfect for keeping little minds active over the summer months. It starts easy and gets gradually harder - so it should be suitable for all Komodo learners from age 5 to 11. Here's what to do:
- Watch the video - starting at Level 1
- Print out the answer sheets
- Work out all the possible paths / routes Komodo can take to get to Toni the ice cream man. Remember one rule: Komodo can't move in a direction that is away from Toni!
- Last but not least be sure to post a photo of your answer sheet onto our Facebook page or tweet us @hellokomodo, and every entry will receive a certificate.
There's nothing to do on this level except watch and think.
For each level, on your answer sheet, draw all the ways Komodo can get to Toni - remembering the one rule: Komodo can't move in a direction that is away from Toni!
Remember - be sure to post a photo of your answer sheet onto our Facebook page or tweet us @hellokomodo, because every entry will receive a certificate.
The answers ( Don't look before you've tried ! )
Level 1 and level 2
In these examples the number of ways / paths is equal to the number of bridges.
Maths puzzles are a great way to get additional maths practice, building fluency and problem-solving skills. If you can make it a family activity, this models a good attitude and approach to maths that younger learners will benefit from.
